First things first – I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by! I know, I know, everyone says this about their kids, but…. THEY GROW UP SO FAST! There were moments in the first weeks of Mason’s life that I honestly couldn’t even see this far into the future because we were just trying to make it through the next 24 hours. But now, looking back, I realize how fleeting those moments were in the grand scheme of things. Mason is one year old, and before I know it he’s going to be off to high school and embarrassed of his Mom *insert sobbing here*
Anyway, enough about the tragedy of growing older… I wanted to share with you guys a few pictures from Mason’s first birthday party! I decided to go with the theme “Mason is a Wild One” (because he definitely is a wild child) and decorate with jungle vibes! The pièce de résistance was the balloon banner I had discovered on Pinterest and decided to recreate. Surprisingly, it wasn’t quite as difficult as I thought and it turned out really well if I do say so myself!! I used plastic stretchy beading string from Michael’s to thread the balloons onto, and then just played around with them after they were on there to get them in the positions I wanted them. I used about 35 balloons for reference, so if you wanted the banner to be longer or have sides and the top then you would need to double or triple the amount of balloons used. I would definitely do this DIY again in the future as the turnout is worth the effort.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without some gold foil word balloons, so those made an appearance as well. 😉 I also had the invitations and some beautiful custom prints done up by SnaptureThis, which I am going to be framing and using in Mason’s playroom in the future! Overall, although I was extremely stressed and running around like a chicken with my head cut off the night before and morning of the party, I think it was all worthwhile for the cute photos we got out of it! One lesson I learned: do not leave all of the things to the day before the party!
