It has been on my mind for a little while now to find a great local Toronto company to feature on my blog. I think it is really important to support your local companies – especially the ones that aren’t linked to a chain! As you all know, I myself am new to the blogging industry, so I consider myself a local “independent chain” too!
All this to say, it took me a little while but I found a new local company who’s clothing I not only love, but who’s values are things that I always look for when I’m shopping.
Meet ERIS & THREAD and the values they stand for:
MODERN BASICS + UNPARALLELED STYLE + REDEFINED STAPLES + INDEFINITE WEARABILITY
At first glance, their offerings may seem limited. Yes, they are quite minimalistic in their styles, but this is exactly one of the things I have come to love about this great little company. These MODERN BASICS create a mostly grey wardrobe to bring you back to a classic and timeless look. With pops of pink or navy blue, it allows a few STAPLES to REDEFINE the way you build your outfits. These pieces allow versatility in simple styles, and ultimately provide INDEFINITE WEARABILITY. Not only in the style, but also in the quality of the clothing itself. I have not myself come across another company looking to do what Eris & Thread are doing with their products. They truly are UNPARALLELED in their STYLE.
Eris & Thread has broken down their offerings into four categories: (1) Fluid Jersey Basics, (2) Luxe Knit, (3) Scuba Jersey, and (4) Textured Jersey. For the purposes of this blog, and for the chilly fall and winter season ahead, I will be looking at the Luxe Knit collection. I am wearing an XS in every style. This collection includes: The Planner, The Muse, The Teacher, and The Rep. Eris & Thread describes this luxe knit collection on their site: “Wardrobe inspiring sweater knits that compliment everyday styling with relaxed confidence is the key to this indefinitely wearable line. This exquisite cashmere infused yarn is soft and modern. The Charcoal colour pairs effortlessly well with your favourite black pieces without a second thought. Wrap up in season-defining knitwear, cleverly designed to fit your everyday style with relaxed shapes and longer lengths.”
The Planner needs to get to the top of your shopping list, and FAST. Not only is the fabric absolutely perfect, this cardigan is one of your most versatile pieces for Fall and Winter. Here, I have opted for no layering. A simple top-button open look, paired with a statement necklace and faux-leather leggings creates a pretty-meets-edgy look. Alternatively, you could wear this piece unbuttoned over a tank top for a more casual look, or half-buttoned with a lacey bralette and delicate necklace.
One of my favourite things about this cardigan is the length. It just covers my bum, which I really like when I’m wearing leggings. Not to mention, it just makes it that much cozier! This piece fits true to size, and is meant to be worn a bit loose throughout the body.
The Teacher is a more relaxed fit, casual piece. Made of the same soft material, this sweater features a small cowl neck which adds a bit of flair to the Eris & Thread luxe knit line. The drawstrings and pockets make the top more casual, but it is balanced out by the detail of the short side slits and length. Not quite as long as The Planner, The Teacher features versatility in that it can be worn with yoga pants for a dressed-down look (as featured in my photos), or can be worn with jeans or black pants to fancy it up a bit.
It really does suit it’s name, as this piece could easily be worn to the office (whether that be a school or the sales department!), to run errands in on a Saturday, or to meet up with a friend for a casual dinner. I love that the sleeves are fitted snug to my arms (in the most comfortable way!), and the body gives room to breath. This top also runs true to size!
The Muse. A classically elegant sweater which should be a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. I love the detail on the back of this sweater (don’t mind the wrinkle!). The rouched center adds another touch of femininity to this piece that I love. I think I have mentioned before that I really love pairing very pretty, feminine accessories with distressed denim. I love the contrast it creates! Here, I have put on my favourite statement necklace from Dynamite (sorry ladies, it’s no longer available!) along with my bone-coloured lace-up flats from Aldo to contrast my distressed denim (by the way, these jeans were DIY!).
It features a classic neckline, which is not at all low-cut, and embraces a “crew-neck” feel. This top is longer in the back than it is in the front, which is something I really like. However, I found that unfortunately this top did run a bit smaller than the other pieces, particularly in length, and I would likely have purchased a size up (S instead of XS). Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints about this beautiful sweater!
Funny enough, The Rep is my absolute favourite of the Luxe Knit line, and I forgot to take photos in it when I shot the other pieces! Likely because I had just worn it the day it came in the mail (whoops!!). These photos will have to do for now, however definitely keep an eye on my Instagram because you’ll see repeat photos of this piece for SURE! The Rep is my favourite sweater of the line because of several reasons, but the front-runner would be that the fit is absolutely perfect. The bottom of the sweater has a fitted band, where the rest of the body of the sweater is a bit looser. It is extremely flattering, and perfect to wear with leggings, jeans, black pants, faux-leather leggings… The list goes on! The ribbed sleeves make for a unique look, setting it apart from the other pieces in the collection. The neckline is elegant in that it is a long, narrow oval, creating a slightly wider high-neck fashion. Perfect for a long chain necklace, like the one I am wearing in the photos above.
If my reviews of these products weren’t enough, or you have any other questions at all, definitely check out the website: www.erisandthread.com or click on any of the links to the pieces in the above post. If you have personal questions outside of what is answered on the website, feel free to ask in the comments below! I am happy to help. Remember, SUPPORT LOCAL, and Love Toronto. 🙂
