You may remember a few blog posts ago when I did a Q&A with a local Toronto maternity boutique – Carry Maternity in Yorkville! In that post, I mentioned that I would be further discussing my shopping experience at the store, and showing off what I came home with to start building a fantastic maternity wardrobe. Now that I’ve had a chance to wear these items for the last few weeks, I can genuinely discuss why each of these items has become a staple to my maternity wardrobe. I will say that I have purchased other items along the way, but the pieces I got from Carry Maternity are by far the ones I have worn the most and are maintaining their good quality along the way.

When you are looking for pieces for your maternity wardrobe, you have to remember that it isn’t going to be just as simple as “all you need are these 5 pieces.” No – if you are anything like me, you still want diversity in your wardrobe regardless of whether or not you have a baby growing inside of you! So this is why I say this is a great start to building your maternity wardrobe. It may not be the be all and end all, but the most important thing I discovered is that you want to invest in a few pieces that, although may be a little more expensive, will make you look AND feel good… and will last you throughout your pregnancy!

My shopping experience at Carry Maternity was just so much fun. The owner Pat and the girls that work for her are all so sweet and ready to help. I picked a few things for myself to try on, and the rest were handed to me – like having a personal stylist! There is so much diversity within the small boutique that you could literally spend hours in there trying on clothes (which I pretty much did…) unlike many other generic maternity stores with limited styles. I highly recommend going into the store if you live in the GTA, but they also do have an online store through their website that will ship directly to you!

Okay, now let’s get down to business! Here is what I brought home with me from my first shopping experience (direct links to items under each photo):

One other top that I came home with but is not featured above can be found HERE. A basic scoop-neck tee with side ruching, which is definitely a staple for any mama-to-be! Although this is not exhaustive of the maternity clothes I have in my closet, it was definitely an amazing start to building my maternity wardrobe. I love that I have been able to wear the tops several different ways (using layering in cooler weather, silk scarves in warmer weather, etc.) and am SO glad I went with both black skinnies AND a classic distressed denim. I have been getting so much wear out of those pants, let me tell ya!

There is still more to come from Carry Maternity, as I have just picked up a couple more dresses for summer, plus my baby shower dress! A great accessory that I also highly recommend is a high-waisted belt to accent that tummy. This gives you the ability to wear some of your non-maternity dresses and still highlight that bump. Carry Maternity has several available in-store, and a few online. I will also be getting a start on some of my nursing tops and bras, so stay tuned as I continue this journey into motherhood, and beyond! 🙂

Sincerely,

Kristin xx

Love this post. Not that I am pregnant but it is useful considering that fitting into clothes while pregnant seems like such a challenge I cannot even begin to think about. You are doing great so far. You are always wearing the cutest clothes ever.
