It’s been a hot minute (no pun intended) since I purchased a hair dryer. I think I have been using the same one I got from Shoppers Drugmart since high school (so… at least 12 years ago!?). I guess that says something about the longevity of that particular dryer, but I’m not sure it boasts anything about how healthy it keeps my hair.
Ever since I saw the new Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, I have been eyeing it up and wanting to take it for a little test drive! I am partnering with TSC to try it out and review it here for you all, so read on and then be sure to check out the full bundle available online with one colour exclusive to TSC in Canada! Don’t forget that Mother’s Day is next week and this would be the perrrrrrfect gift, in my opinion! 🙂
The hair dryer comes with 3 attachments (they are magnetic, which I absolutely love — so easy to use!) the Smoothing Nozzle, the Styling Concentrator, and the Diffuser. Another great thing about them is that they don’t get too hot due to the heat shield technology so you don’t have to worry about burning yourself when removing them after use. The dryer measures air temperature 20 times a second which helps prevent extreme heat damage – something that is definitely a plus for me as a mom that still struggles with post-partum hair loss. I want to take care of it as best as I can so that the hair that I do have stays strong and healthy!
Although I have very fine hair and probably don’t need to spend upwards of $500 on a hair dryer, I will say that the fast-drying technology makes it a very desirable product for people with thick, hard to manage hair. And again, as a mom, I do appreciate the fast drying time! It has a three speed settings and three heat settings, which are easily adjusted at a click of a button on the handle. The motor is something that sets this dryer apart: it is in the handle rather than the head, making the dryer easier to hold for an extended period of time. Although it takes a bit of getting used to, since other hair dryers have the motor in the head. Regardless, it is under 2lbs and a breeze to use (see what a did there??)!
Another feature of this dryer that I love is the aesthetic. It is simply PRETTY, am I right? However, it is not all about looking “cool” – this dryer is built with a hole instead of grill to prevent your hair from getting caught (and who hasn’t had that happen to them at least a handful of times), and the filter is at the bottom of the handle and is barely noticeable. The only aesthetic feature that I don’t love about this dryer is the electrical cord. The length (2.7m) is great, however the cord itself is very heavy duty and therefore adds some unnecessary weight to the dryer, in my opinion. This is really my only complaint!
So to conclude my review about the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer: I would highly recommend this product. Although it is an investment, it is one worth making if you have thick/long/hard-to-manage hair. The Dyson name on its own makes this product lust-worthy, and also speaks to its quality. So be sure to check out the exclusive bundle available on TSC – you don’t want to miss out!
