Summer calls for as many BBQ’s as humanly possible – at least that’s what we think in our house! As soon as the nicer weather hits, I load Dave up with all his BBQ utensils and send him outside. Seriously, though… he does a lot of the cooking in the summer simply because he loves to barbeque!

When Vinho Verde Wines asked if I would partner with them to try their wine and share my thoughts, I said absolutely! We didn’t waste any time cracking open a few different bottles to try with a homemade BBQ meal. We paired a different wine with each course, and I can say with certainty that my favourite was the Casal Ventozela which we paired with our charcuterie board appetizer. We found the Aromas4U Escolha to be quite sweet and paired well with the grilled salmon in our main course. Finally, the Aveleda was the perfect partner to our dessert of apple crisp and maple ice cream. A very satisfactory meal, indeed!

I actually don’t think I have ever tried a Portuguese wine prior to this, and I will say I was very pleasantly surprised. Vinho Verde Wines scream summertime, and I know we will be enjoying these wines for many more summer nights to come! See how we paired all of the wines with food below:

What’s your favourite food pairing for white wine?

Sincerely,

Kristin xx
